This tripod is exceptionally light. I bought it specifically for hiking where weight is very important. In the end I decided to keep it for my most important trips but I plan to buy an extra tripod for wider use. This is definitely not your universal setup. The ball head is great and could be for general use, it's basically the legs that come with caution. It's not the most stable as you approach the weight limit. The thing about tripod weight ratings is that they don't really refer to total failure; it is just a guide. I could probably put my full weight on the tripod and it wouldn't explode underneath me. But even with the Sony A7RII and medium sized glass, longer focal lengths (I noticed this at 85mm) show vibrations in wind or when the tripod is in choppy water. It's short, very short. First, I rarely turn on the center speaker. This slightly reduced stability, especially lengthened. Height can be an important aspect of composition. Ansel Adams is known for mounting a tripod on the roof of his cars. In wooded or bushy areas, it may not be possible to get a clear field of view with this tripod if you cannot gain height. It's also not very durable. I've used it in sub-zero temperatures; Immersion in an icy river, etc. Conditions where a portable tripod should be used. One leg had a broken plastic retaining cap so I had to add an extra step to carefully pull that leg out separately while all the others were blocked. The anti-rotation bushing on the other leg stripped the threads on the graphite shaft rendering that leg useless as it only rotates. I was able to glue this piece back into the box and so far it hasn't failed again (yet). The price doesn't surprise or annoy me. (Yes, believe it or not, this is definitely an inexpensive tripod setup). All that said, keep a sense of realism when purchasing this product. If you're the kind of person who goes on trips where they cut off the handle of their toothbrush to save weight, this could be the perfect compromise between a big tripod and a tiny gorilla.
