Review on 🐠 SeaChem Tidal 55 Gallon (200 Liters) Large Fish Tank Filter - Sicce Brand by Amy Thomas

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great so far. - Filter

I ordered a Tidal 55 to replace the AC 50 on my 29 gallon tank. It is quite heavily loaded and contains a lot of Mopani wood. My water has been looking very cloudy and full of small floating debris with AC lately. I ordered a glued blue and white polypropylene sheet with this filter and cut it to fit the basket. I placed a sheet on the sponge that came with the filter. On top of that I put the supplied Seachem Biomedium package. Finally, I put the organic carrier bag from my AC 50 inside. The basket was pretty full. It's been running in my tank for 4 days now and my water is crystal clear. After 2 days a small blue plug appeared. I simply lifted the lid, took out the media basket and set it on the inverted lid (it's meant to catch dripping water), took it to the sink and rinsed out the sponge and plastic liner. I left the file running. That was the end of the mess. This thing pulled a lot of dirt out of my water. Very happy with the performance and ease of maintenance. Also, I only crank it up to about 50% on an easily adjustable dial. The surface skimmer keeps the top layer of water clean. The downsides I see with it are that it's quite large and definitely stands out on the back of the tank (although I like the look of it), plus the skimmer can't be turned off completely so you have to be careful when serving flakes. and floating food. I think the positives of this filter definitely outweigh these small negatives and in the short time I've had it I would definitely give it 5 stars. It's also very quiet. I hope it continues to work just as well and I've found my new range of hob filters.
