I won't lie. I got this based on the reviews, I wanted to try another brand of oil. At first I hated the smell. it smells like pine and i hate that smell. but my wife liked the smell so that's all that matters* but maybe i really love the smell after using it 3 times, it's not as dominant as it used to be. So I'm thinking that maybe it will soften if the seal is broken/a little air gets in. Oh I almost forgot, it helps with softness too. It works best in combination with beard lotion but can also work on its own which is great *not really
