I have two pairs of AKG headphones that I have used for several years (Q701over-ear and Q450 wired on-ear) and I have an AKG Y500 Wireless bought to offer a certain versatility. So I had the opportunity to compare the AKGY500 to two pairs I already own. I found - through repeated comparison - that the Y500 was significantly inferior to the Q701 and Q450, even when listening to a wired connection. I also experienced poor connection when using the Y500 in wired mode. The Y500s were very well designed and built. But I just couldn't get over the Y500's poor (dirty and muffled) sound quality and sent it back. That may not be fair of me, but I suggest that AKG go back to the drawing board and create wireless/wired headphones with comparable sound range to their older models.
