No soft grips so my hand hurts when using. I think cooking meatballs is one of those tasks where there's no easy way if you want to do it right - just do it by hand. I use that and the meat sticks to the sides or I don't pack enough and the meat falls apart. Sometimes I stuff too tight and it won't come out of the tool. I made some meatballs and my hand is starting to hurt from using the tool. Just when you think you've had enough it's time for a clean, and trust me, cleaning these tools is no fun. I would just do it by hand since you have full control over how big and how much you pack and create consistent density. It's really a once-in-a-lifetime deal when you make them all in one sitting and then just store them in the fridge and take them out when it's time to use them. Easy.
