The glue is not protected for the stencil. So if you put it on the floor to cut it on a custom rug, you probably won't be able to recover the pattern. I was scared enough not to even try. If there was a protective layer to keep the stencil from sticking to its place AND THEN it would stick to the object being cut out this could be a great product. I couldn't use it upside down or not. I wanted to see through the drawing so I could get to the cutout and follow those lines. Maybe this product is great for its intended purpose, but I couldn't use it.
