Well of course you can get a similar pen for a lot less. HOWEVER after much research I think this pen offers the best fit for the Ronin S for MY needs and probably for everyone looking at this pen. It can be installed/removed without tools, has multiple mounting holes for other accessories, and a cold shoe mount at the end. The cold show mount is not available on any of the other Ronin S grips, and if you find one that has a cold shoe, you'll find that the grip is fixed and non-adjustable, which is what the cold shoe mount does relatively useless. So this offers the second most flexible grip of any Ronin S grip. Smallrig makes another very similar grip that attaches to the Ronin S's nato clamp (sold separately) and this would be the #1 best flex. If you have a have a couple of rigs you want to swap out that grip, get a nato clamp grip and a nato rail clamp (about $130 together) and you'll get the absolute maximum in customization and flexibility. For me it was over the top and it was perfect. Easy to put on and take off, no collar required (collar requires tools) and no tools required to attach handle. This increases stability and makes it easy and comfortable to hit from below. The handle looks great, just like the photo. The finish of the wooden handle as well as the CNC machined aluminum is very aesthetic and feels well made and solid while looking elegant at the same time. I was skeptical as this is the first Smallrig component I have purchased and it is by no means cheap but after receiving it you will understand why. I'm glad I chose it over the $30 aluminum grips for both functionality and aesthetics. Another thing to keep in mind is that if you ever sell your Ronin S you will get an excellent return as it is such high quality and such a famous name. I liked it so much that I immediately ordered a Smallrig quick release plate for the Ronin, a cage and some other small parts. I would buy it again and totally recommend it for the Ronin S.
