I really wish this worked to automate my pool. For the first device I got, I created a test script by turning it on before installing it permanently, and I'm glad I did. Upon power up, the LED indicator will flash, stay on, and then begin the cycle again. The SSID that was given out appeared and disappeared again and again, as confirmed by two different iPhones and a Wi-Fi analyzer on my PC. I was never able to connect to the SSID long enough to complete setup with their mobile app. Having used other similar devices, I was very familiar with the process. Usually you connect to the SSID, open an application that connects to the device through its own network. It then had to look for the nearest Wi-Fi SSID, where you select one and enter your credentials. It never came to that. The device keeps restarting. I couldn't even use the manual power button. It was activated and then turned off when the device restarted. I've also tried a number of factory resets by following the instructions and watching YouTube videos. There are no dice for that either. So I sent it back and got another one. Well, the replacement does the same! I tried emailing their support and they responded fairly quickly. They wanted me to film a video and had a few questions about my Wi-Fi setup (which didn't really matter since I never got to the "choose your Wi-Fi" part). I replied that I wouldn't waste time making a video and if they didn't have an offer to try I would return it. It shouldn't be that hard to use and I gave up. I ended up returning the second unit and will instead make my own 240V smart switch using a 120V bipolar coil contactor and a Z-Wave GE switch that I will integrate into my home automation system. It's more work and I was hoping for an out of the box solution like this product, but in the long run there should be a better solution.
