There are no filters readily available and they are very expensive

Although the device is excellent overall, they don't make the filters that affordable. You need to place a special order with the company and wait for them to be in stock. And pay an exorbitant amount for filters only available through Shark. That seems to be why the company we call Shark! You shouldn't produce an item that you can't easily service, let alone charge about 20% of the unit cost just for the filter.
