Review on Columbia TurboDown Hooded Jacket for Men - Voodoo Falls 590 by Noah Lewis

Extremely light and very warm for its weight

Very light jacket, very comfortable and much warmer than you would expect at such a weight. Fabric and filling are reminiscent of an ultra-light sleeping bag. Although lightly lined, this jacket is good for me in the 30 degree range and above, even in colder temperatures with a base layer or in an active situation. This is probably due to the reflective inner lining, which, however, makes the inside of the jacket look like a disco ball. The sleeves are slightly longer than other jackets, which is good for slim figures. As other reviewers have noted, the jacket's cut is looser than fitted, allowing room for multiple layers. The hood has the same padding as the rest of the jacket, so it doesn't hide in the collar that fits me - I'd rather have a warm hood than one that packs away. It doesn't have features like sealed zippers or likely durability for long rides in inclement weather, but that's not what it's designed for. My only gripe is that the pockets are lined with fleece, which does make them warmer, but will cling to any bit of rough skin even if your hands are chapped. That's really the only downside I can think of. All in all a great casual jacket and the price is right. Very happy with it. It's worth noting that while this jacket has a hood, a version without a hood is also available, usually for a few dollars less.
