. This is just a physical adapter, they don't adapt SAS protocol to SATA. Your motherboard should already support SAS. If your motherboard supports SAS but uses SATA cables, they will work fine. A good example is the Chenbro NR120000. This board supports 8 SAS and 6 SATA, but all connections use the included connectors/cables. This adapter allows me to connect SAS drives to SAS compatible ports. They will work properly if you have the required support for an IE motherboard that supports SAS but uses SATA connectors/cables.
