Note that the Western Digital SA500 Red SSD is one of the very few non-enterprise SSDs that support DRAT and Support HZAT, which allows you to perform proper pruning LSI SAS HBA. Search Broadcom Knowledge Base for ID: 1211161496937 or "TRIM Support for LSI HBAs and RAID Controllers". Purchased six 2TB 2.5" drives and placed them in a ZFS RAIDZ2 pool in a Supermicro chassis supporting 36 SAS/SATA drives per LSI 9300. -8i SAS HBA controller. The system was running Devuan (Debian) with kernel 4.9. Trouble unplugging drives every night. The LSI 9300-8i controller has been updated to the latest BIOS and firmware. Drives became much more stable but they still got kicked once a week sometimes Updated Devuan to the latest version that works with kernel 4.19 and was still having the same issues for the last month. .Performance is excellent, which is to be expected from RAIDZ2 (RAID6) with six drives and 32GB ARC. Overall I'm happy, but it was a difficult time. Contact the controller manufacturer to see if they can fix the problem. Broadcom (they bought LSI) helped but didn't solve the problem.
