It doesn't appear to be real leather, but the material has stretch and looks nice. Easy to cut and sort (remember kids you can always cut more but you can't carry more). The ratchet works well (so nice that it can be adjusted in small increments and the number of clicks tells me how well I'm doing with my diet) and the material is flexible so it doesn't tear or wrinkle.
