We took this on a 3 week car camping road trip and used it under our awning and under our shower/privacy tent (with a plastic ground cloth over it under the shower). It made the sower more comfortable underfoot - we did not try it without the plastic ground cloth over it because we did not want to make mud. On red dirt in Utah it did pickup and hold onto some red color that came off pretty well when we washed it at home on the lawn with a tiny bit of biodegradable dish soap on the end of a broom.Like it a lot for easy storage: folds up and doesn't weigh a ton.
