Review on πŸ”οΈ Sun Company Altimeter 203: Battery-Free Altimeter and Barometer, Weather-Trend Indicator with Rugged ABS Case and Lanyard, Reads Altitude 0-15,000 ft by Trae Joubert

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great little unit. It's a little tricky not to offset the altitude calibration.

Great little altimeter. Bought for hiking Washington's Cascade Range since my old altimeter died. Robust construction. Appears to be as accurate as a small mechanical altimeter. These things are actually barometers with moving hands to convert barometric pressure to altitude. You calibrate this by rotating the moving dial when it is at a known altitude, e.g. B. a landmark whose altitude can be read from your map. lose altitude calibration. The moving dial of the old one was almost impossible to move by pressing the device. I compensated for this with a piece of Gorilla Tape on the case while holding the dial, but this was far from ideal. Also, the device was a bit bigger and heavier than I thought on the Revain site. Expect to wear it hiking for years to come.
