My first experience with this unit was terrible. Luckily I met my family for dinner before embarking on my full journey and I had the opportunity to fix it but after the first click on the vent hook it turned out to be very weak. I couldn't hook it up to the right side vent because the vent was too close to the shifter. The object fell to the floor of the car. It's a fairly short handle, and while it takes a lot of force to open, pulling alone isn't enough, depending on where in the vent it's hooked. Since then I've had to be extra careful to find a "gold point" that works and actually supports the phone's weight in the air vents, but I was hoping for a little more flexibility than this product offers. I haven't tried the suction option but I don't really trust them in general as they need a smooth surface to work.
