I have been using Nelly for several years with excellent results. Then for some reason I decided to give Charlie a try. Big mistake. The substance does not dissolve in cold water, leaves a film and stains on dark clothes and does not wash clothes. If I had a stain on my shirt I would pretreat it before washing but it didn't matter. The stain will look the same as it did originally. The cotton fibers became stiff and prickly, and doing laundry at Charlie's gave me a rash on my arms and chest. I threw away the remaining bag and a half and returned to Nellie. Even after the first wash, I can say that items previously washed in Charlie are much softer and don't get scratched.
