I bought this to replace a headset cable that did not have a volume control. The original cable that came with the headset had a broken volume knob and the cable without a volume knob was fine when used with my phone but was too loud when used on an airplane entertainment system. I have a Samsung Note 9 that seems picky about ports. The first cable I tried had volume buttons and it didn't work. This cable has a volume control and slightly different connectors to match my phone and onboard systems. The only problem I have is that the range of control is limited, mainly depending on the volume of the source. When the source volume is low, the volume control range is mostly on/off, but when the source volume is high, the range is about half the length of the control slider. I would have liked a larger control area, but it's much better than before. The cord itself is flat and not round, so it doesn't get as tangled up, but it shouldn't be crimped as much as round cords either. Overall good value for money.
