So far, so good. I use mine on an old Craftsman single barrel lathe from the late 50's/early 60's. The live center is a bit oversized, losing about 1 1/2 inches of working length, but it's smooth and works well.
Pros
Manufactured from precision hardened steel for high precision!
I bought this for my 1978 Craftsman wood lathe, it requires MT 1. Fills well, bearings turn smoothly with no play. The diagram on the box shows 5000rpm max. I chose this live hub because it has three bearings instead of one. Other wood turning centers I've looked at in this price range have complained of sloppy bearings and bearing collapse.
This #1 tapered drive center is perfect for my 25 year old Craftsman long bed lathe. The product is made of heavy gauge stainless steel and the bearings run smoothly and do not wobble on long turns. It is important to match the speed of the lathe to the size of the workpiece being used, otherwise vibration or scoring may occur. I use a "bezel" in the middle of long thin pieces once the basic round surface has been achieved on the lathe. This eliminates vibration and wobble and ensures a smooth…
Pros
High quality triple bearing design (submersible and sealed bearings)
