I have three thermometers similar to this one. This is the lowest price of the three and also my least favorite. The one I use now has a magnet and is always there for my fridge when I want it. You don't have to dig through kitchen drawers to find it. There is no magnet in it. This one also seems to be the most fragile, it just doesn't look like it was built to last. But here, too, the low price can hardly be faulted. It has an on/off button. The other turns on automatically when I open it. I was concerned about battery drain if this model is left on, but I see it has an auto shut off feature. If you are looking for an inexpensive, budget friendly instant reading thermometer then this is it. I would advise you to spend a few bucks more and get another one. Excuse me. This one is fine, but it belongs in the gift closet.
