Not for sports model without extra work. Textured on plastic surround

So the light would be perfect if I understood WHY Amazon said it didn't fit my truck. I bought anyway. It just fits well. It took a little pressure to make it fit almost perfectly. I have a Ram 1500 Sport 98g. Knowing that my tail light surround is the same color as the body. It is not. What I don't understand is the non-sporty models with that black trim. The plastic has texture. I sanded and painted it. Well enough, he's almost 22 years old. I assume if you have an unpainted taillight surround it will fit just right, plug and play.
