Review on Eva Dry Edv 1100 Electric Petite Dehumidifier by Jesse Stewart

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Must be modified to work

Bought for safe use. The reservoir has never accumulated more than a tiny drop of water. I tried putting it in a room that I knew was supposed to pull moisture out of the air (in case the problem occurs in an enclosed space). A similar result is no build in a room where a 70 pint rig was filling up every day or so due to the off-season. Here's my update (8/26/20) - I've tried two different things to make this work. First I replaced the fan with a similar 80mm computer fan from an old project. In hindsight I don't think I had to - the specs were identical to the original. What I noticed is that the device blows air from above. There is a small panel blind (looks like blinds) with a diffuser underneath (a panel with many small holes). My conclusion is that the diffuser is impeding airflow (and no airflow means no moisture is being removed by the cold radiator inside). I took the diffuser out (I don't think you need to take it apart to do this, both pieces should just pop out) but I think you can also drill some holes in it, say 1/4", to open it up more. This seems to have solved the problem - it works and maintains 50% RH in my vault thereby accumulating water, I'm sure the diffuser is designed to move the air more evenly through the unit but it works just doesn't work like it does with the fan you chose.

Pros
  • Durable finish
Cons
