Admit it, every time you buy a gauge you have to ask yourself how accurate it is? Most of the time it's not critical, but for me it always bothers me until I find a way to verify accuracy. So when I opened up this gauge and the filler neck, I found that two AAA batteries were already installed and the gauge was on, showing PSI as the unit. It offers four options with a function key. It came with four tire caps, a stem tool for deflating or removing the trinket in the center of the valve stem, and a standard air hose fitting instead of an automotive coupler. The included teflon tape is thin, like most of these tools, and after 12 turns I easily screwed the connector in by hand and pushed all the way in. I used a wrench to finish it off. So I took two other gauges to get to 95 degrees and see how they add up. One of the reasons I ordered this gauge and not the others is because the actual stem clamp felt stronger and looked like it wouldn't leak after clamping the valve stem. At least I hoped so. Depress the tab and then slide the whole thing over the valve stem and then release to ensure a secure, leak-free fit. A good start. That's a strong connection. Even without switching on, the pressure gauge immediately reads the tire pressure. But how exactly was it? So I pulled out a small, round pressure gauge, which I find very handy. Oh, three pounds more reading. I then went for a more industrial variant that I used on high pressure tires like a big pickup. It was very approximate, but since I wasn't digital I could only assume it was close. That's enough for me. I believe a large dial indicator will be accurate enough and since this is close by I like this one and will use it instead. Because of this and the fact that it is easily attached to the air compressor, I no longer have to go back and forth between the pressure gauge and the filler neck. Now it's the same tool. Nice workshop tool.
