I ordered this primarily to find my lost arrows at the shooting range after dark. I have a UV flashlight but it is much dimmer compared to this light. This light is much brighter than a standard 4ft 40w fluorescent black light. You can use it to illuminate a small space like a bedroom. You can use this with a power supply, but the power supply must supply at least 2 amps of current. It is preferable to have one with 4 batteries and use high capacity batteries if you expect it to glow for an hour or more or not turn itself off intermittently. It turned off about every 12-15 minutes and I had to turn it off and on again. Not sure why this happened, although it works fine when using AC/DC. Adapter (included) so I suspect the batteries in my power bank are quite old. Makes it incredibly easy to find arrows hidden in the grass. The reason I gave it 4 stars is that the construction is not very solid and not well thought out. The cord is quite thin and the light gets a little warm, which is not good. An additional heat sink is required to dissipate this heat. I suspect it won't last very long unless I somehow change the design and add a heatsink. Also, a bright white power cord that fluoresces under ultraviolet light is a pretty bad idea from an aesthetic point of view. Black would be better. I will change my rating if it misbehaves in the near future
