Works as previously described. The only drawback is the length of the adapter body. When unplugged, it's the same length as a full-size Surface Connect. Once the cable is connected, the cable sleeve lengthens and lengthens it even more. On a Surface Go, connecting with the cable facing up blocks the USB-C port on the Surface. When plugged in, the cable lies against the table, which prevents the device from standing securely. Your mileage may vary based on other Surface devices. Edit: After a few months one of the adapters mysteriously stopped working and got incredibly hot when I removed it for testing. This adapter no longer works, but even worse, it shows the circuit is dangerously *shorted* and has no overcurrent protection - both dangerous design flaws for sensitive equipment. I am canceling my previous review as I can no longer recommend this one.
