It's nice to have sharp knives again! A sharpening rod alone should keep a good knife sharp for many years. Unfortunately, one day they will eventually get to the point where they need to be sharpened. I've been buying and using this or that "handy" sharpener for my knives for a number of years, but they just don't work as well as they do. No way. That reversible stone, a dash of whetstone oil (or mineral or olive oil), and some elbow grease puts these knives back in the game. What a joy to have knives that cut easily and quickly again! I will never use anything else again.
