I like the M12 line. I have a screwdriver and an angle drill from this line. They're strong, yet light enough for a weekend getaway. If you're hitting the stairs with a full tool belt, you'll appreciate a little less weight and a few extra batteries on board to save on travel. I bought a hammer drill to drive concrete screws into a cement block for a basement project. Works reliably and efficiently. The batteries are interchangeable between devices, so I could use batteries from other devices in one fell swoop. Batteries recharge quickly (30 minutes for a full charge) with a standard M12 charge. I found I could drill a dozen holes in a block with a single charge. For this size I think the lifespan is reasonable. Then I drilled through the basement blocks with this hammer drill to lay the wiring to the two outside sockets. With a fully charged battery, the 3/8 concrete drill quickly cuts through blocks without sticking. The drill can be switched between a standard drill and a screwdriver mode. Stores additional tools to work with. The clutch ensures that there are no torn or countersunk screws. I've never had a drill fall out of cams when held tight.
