Review on Convenient USB Port Nightstand - Casual Home Warm Brown (New) by Teresa Miller

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Nice but had to redo the power cord.

I chose this bedside table for my guest room because of its USB charging capability. Assembly is easy (takes about 10 minutes). All the parts are aligned, it was about 5 easy steps and all I needed was a Phillips screwdriver. However, when I tried the final step of the process to plug in the power cord, it didn't work. The sockets were too small for the pins. I've tried every corner and literally spent more time connecting this damn thing than assembling it. I looked for a similar cable at home, but couldn't find it. First I tried pliers in the bushings to stretch them a bit. But they were too big. Then I found a small (slightly larger than glasses) screwdriver. I inserted it into the socket to gently bend the metal to enlarge the pin hole. No - it didn't work. But it seemed to help a little. So I dared to insert the screwdriver into the socket as far as it would go and turn it. BINGO! The plug is inserted and the blue LED lights up. I connected it to my iPhone and it started charging. I haven't tested how slow/fast it loads, but I'm less worried about that. The charging cable offers three different adapters. I would recommend just buying a few different USB chargers and keeping them in your desk drawer. The supplied cable is very short. You could just plug your device and leave it on the stand, you can't use it at all. Hope this helps - I recommend trying it out for a bit before assembling it. Seems worth the energy to get it working.
