When I first bought them they seemed pretty strong but now within a week they are starting to fall apart. Manufacturers have to reduce quality to reduce production costs. I've since bought a set of cleaning sponges that are thicker and made of stronger, more durable cellulose. The new sponges I bought shrink and expand immediately upon first contact with water. I suggest looking for thick pressed cleaning sponges and getting these instead. Only clean them if you can accept them falling apart after a few days, and spend more money to replace them frequently.
