Light doesn't work well!

I connected the first wire (blue) and it seems to work fine. I connected the second one (red) and it only half lights up, same with purple. What a waste of money. You'd think for $30 they'd work just fine. Very dissatisfied and disappointed. Even more so for my kids who wanted them to start with them.
