Velcro is best, no cheap fakes.
Not too wide. I use velcro for batteries and receivers in RC airplanes. I use mounting tape, but I use velcro to make sure it doesn't come loose, especially when using a gyroscope or stabilizer. I make a small stand out of balsa wood with a slot just big enough for velcro and fasten it in place. Works perfectly. My mounting tape came loose, but the velcro held it in place.
