At first I was a bit hesitant. Many reviewers complained about the battery life. I have never used phantom power on this unit. The chest mic and shotgun I use don't need them. So for my use the battery is fantastic. I bought a set of 9V rechargeable batteries which are great and I can change during the shoot. Beachtek requires learning and experimentation, but I really enjoyed it. I use it with Panasonic G85 or my old GH3. The G85 does not have a headphone output. I often use an external monitor connected via HDMI. I can draw a line from an external monitor to the monitor input on the Beachtek. I control the recording levels while recording by flipping the switch to the REC position. When I want to play, I switch to PLAY and then watch the playback on an external monitor. If you're only using one mic, it would be great to set the device's output switch to mono and use two controls for two different recording levels for the same source. One can be hotter and the other below safety level. All in all super solid.
