Review on Woolie Boolie 6 Inch Charcoal DEFEET by Patrick Matin

Revainrating 5 out of 5

My favorite cold weather cycling socks

I now have 4 pairs of DeFeet Woolie Boolie 6-inch men's socks. First I bought 2 pairs, I really liked them and I ordered 2 more pairs. I ordered the larger ones, I wear US size 9.5-10 shoes and they fit great. I've worn socks mountain biking, trail and trail biking in temperatures between 40°F and 18°F (4°C and -7°C). In colder times I also wore neoprene overshoes to keep my feet warm. These are my favorite socks for skiing in cold weather. I had no problems with sweat. Of course, when I really get it, my feet get sweaty. At the same time, the socks do not get wet. They dry quickly. This was a surprise for me. I fully expected sweaty woolen socks to be a problem. Maybe it's because of the type of wool, merino wool. My understanding is that merino wool is made up of finer fibers which supposedly makes the wool "closer" to the skin and also allows air to flow through the material. It is said to be ideal for wicking sweat away from the skin. I'm not sure if it's because of that, all I know is that these socks absorb sweat. I can't say anything about durability yet. I wear these socks for the first winter. I wash my socks in cold water and dry them. So far I haven't seen any problems. With these socks, my Vans didn't feel as tight as other cold-weather wearables I've tried. I know these socks are expensive, wish they were cheaper. However, I think they will be worth their price as long as they last a few seasons. Thank you for taking the time to read my review. I hope it was helpful to you.
