In truth my LO would say I LOVE the first book and love the second. LO plays the first book a lot more than the second. I love the songs in both books and listening to them also helps me learn Chinese. We liked the first book and my LO used it a lot. I rushed to the second as I needed more Mandarin books in circulation. Overall this book is excellent. Beautiful pictures, good music and sweet songs. The pages are thick enough for little hands to turn. We had the first for about a year and the second for maybe 6 months; still in great shape. I saw a review complaining about the length of the songs. Some of them are slightly longer, although there are English songs of the same length or longer. I also like that it's styled after the first book, with buttons and pandas. My only wish is that this book contains traditional Chinese characters with phonetics. I want my LO to learn both.
