These long johns embody the saying "There's no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing". I have a set for my 6 year old son who doesn't want to wear the long Lands End underwear I bought him last year. He tried them on and just didn't want to take them off. In fact, he wore them for 24 hours before I made him change. We received a gray pair which was medium and a little big for my petite son at 42lbs 3ft 8inches, ok but a little big but I blame it more on my son's petiteness than the size issue. I think it's up to him. Light weight and height would be ideal but we wanted something he could grow into. They were snug enough to slip easily under other clothing without adding bulk. The inside is very soft (hence his desire to keep them on) and they're warm enough to wear as pajamas. Overall, these long johns are absolute winners if you're looking for a way to stay warm this winter - indoors or out.
