They are produced with a short tongue and delivered ready-made. The combination of the two means you'll need a shoehorn or something similar to put them on. Once you can put them on, they are very comfortable and flexible. It's more of a "deck shoe" than a sneaker, but it's a good casual shoe that still proves to be quite durable.
