Bower 728C Flash for Canon SX20IS Camera

I use this flash on my Canon SX20-IS camera. It seems that this bower flash can only work in automatic mode. (Brightness level or anything else cannot be adjusted via camera OSD). It's bright, flashes when alarmed, and charges quickly with NiMH rechargeable batteries. I saw some bad reviews because some people had trouble installing the batteries. if done right. First the two front batteries are connected, then the two rear ones. The photos I took turned out well. Horizontal and vertical rotation is great for reflecting off a ceiling or wall. For the average photographer or beginner I think this is a great product for the price. The device has a plastic body and base, but should be fine if you think the same way about a flash as you do about a camera. A NOTICE. I recommend buying a diffuser. Attachment to soften the flash so it doesn't focus on one spot. They're inexpensive (around $5-$20) and fold up for easy storage or portability. Most of them are universal and have a Velcro or strap closure. I bought a 6" x 8" diffuser but soon found that the size of the diffuser was too big and heavy for the flash head to carry/hold in the correct position and it was interfering with the infrared flash sensor on the front side. the best choice I think for general use.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Definitely bad product
