I just got a new MacBook and it's getting really hot. This item is amazing for keeping them cool and happy. Also, it lifts and tilts my laptop for ease of use. It plugs into the side of my laptop and doesn't seem to affect the battery much. Also, it's really quiet. Most of the time I can barely hear it which makes it way better than the fans I've had in the past. Sometimes I forget to turn it off and end up hearing a very faint noise late at night and it takes me a while to figure out what it is. Without it, the bottom of my MacBook feels very hot. But having it in this fanbase keeps it nice and cool. And that makes it quieter because it doesn't overheat. The only thing that needs improvement is the best glue for the rubber pads that keep my laptop from slipping off. I think the heat from the laptop is constantly melting the adhesive a bit so these pads will shift over time. I can still glue them back on, but they need a better glue that handles the heat better. Of course, it's not a deal breaker, and I still recommend this stand if you have a toasted laptop.
