Danger: They bend into your spokes

These saddlebags are convenient because they can be left on the bike and rolled up when not in use. I got them because they hide my e-bike's rack battery and make it look like a regular bike when you're not looking closely. Unfortunately, they are poorly designed and unsafe. They are held on the frame with latches. Obviously they are not reliable at all and will break on any impact as the bags carry weight. I heavily modified my bag to attach with straps and side buckles and attached one of the metal D-rings to the back of the trunk. Since the bags can be rolled up, the backs are not reinforced at all. The only hard part about the bags are the small folding bottoms on each side. This is not enough to prevent them from warping when being filled or twisting on the rack. You must therefore load them very carefully to ensure they do not bend dangerously into your spokes. Even if they aren't initially, they can move if you stop or hit a bump. I think they are better with a travel stand that has levers that stick out. Unfortunately my trunk doesn't have this feature and is built into the bike. For the price you can do much better. They are attractive and appear to be made from relatively high-quality materials, but their design is uncertain and inefficient.
