Elastic waistband must be closed

Pleasant at first. However, after the first wash, the elastic on the waistband was twisted and could no longer be straightened. I could feel the crumpled pieces as the tip was tightened. After several attempts to straighten the elastic, I gave up and just pulled it through the lace hole and cut most of it off. This made the tops too baggy, so they ended up in the trash. I have no patience for such things.
