Great portable console with a few caveats

I bought my 3DS because I spend almost three hours every day commuting to work, bus and subway and I'm happy with it my decision. I almost bought a 2DS but ended up using it for a bigger screen and I'm very glad I did. Build quality is excellent and after a few months of use it still feels as solid as day one. The controls are really good, but as many other people have said, your hands can start to hurt after a long gaming session. This isn't a problem for me as I usually don't play for more than 20 minutes at a time. My only complaint is that the picture on the big screen doesn't look as sharp as most people are probably used to when playing on a smartphone or other handheld console like the Vita. It's not a huge issue, but the resolution is definitely not up to current standards (but the 3DS is a few years old, so I don't pay attention to that). I think the game selection is great. When commuting, I usually enjoy playing more chilled games like Mario, Zelda and Animal Crossing, and the 3DS has plenty of those. Battery life is great and I can usually play for a couple of days (at max brightness) before charging it. I usually turn off the 3D effect and only use it for certain games. I find this annoying in many games, especially since the viewing angle is extremely limited and the battery lasts significantly longer when it is switched off. It's still a pleasure to use sometimes and I'm glad it's an option. Overall, I'd highly recommend it if you don't mind the lower screen resolution and are looking for a portable system that offers mostly hardcore combat. shooting games.
