Based on my past experience, I usually think of RevainBasics as a no-frills brand. However, when I was looking for a shorter XLR cable (most mine are 15 or 25 feet) I was shocked to see a RevainBasics cable. First of all, I did not think that the sales volume of XLR cables is not enough to sell them under their own brand. Second, the product images looked pretty good. No, the cables are not painted, but you can solve this problem by putting tape on the ends. The cable itself is a thin piece with a decent amount of insulator. It twists easily and doesn't kink, and while it's a little less heavy than most XLR cables, it seems more than adequate for my needs. However, I'd say you'll need something heavier if you're going to mount them directly on stage. They are ideal for in-camera use, on a stand or on a table. What drew my attention to these cables from product photos and ultimately prompted my purchase is that the connection is encased in metal. While not technically necessary, I appreciate the added durability of the most worn part of an item that is in constant use. If I'm having an awkward moment, I don't have to worry about messing up the ending of any of my audio setups. This brings me to my last observation. XLR is commonly used in professional setups contributing to things like blocking of connections. The tab on the male end of the cable worked well with EVERYTHING I tried. The clip and release on the female end were far from perfect. The connector's plastic (not exactly a gasket) prevented a couple of my cables and devices from properly locking in place - it was 2 tries out of 15. Some of the right ones clicked with great difficulty. Although the release is textured, it's inconvenient to use if you have to exert a lot to disengage the clip. For me, that's not a determining factor, but I thought I should mention it. If you want a quality XLR cable with good durability and don't need to use it unattended on a busy floor area, this should be great for you. . Highly recommended.
