I'm surprised this product has such a high rating (that's why I ordered it) because I find it completely disappointing! Do they absorb water? Yes! But not as much as expected! It doesn't absorb 500ml/9.8oz of moisture - it absorbs about half that amount as you can see in my photos. A few months ago I moved to a tropical area and a local friend gave me one of these (different brand!) to put in my closet. Didn't know I needed it until I saw the bag was full in less than a month. I ordered these 10 packs but it wasn't at all what my friend gave me. The absorption solution is ready and 99% water soluble, while the water part is only half full. I checked how much moisture was absorbed by pouring the moisture into a 500ml water bottle and unsurprisingly the bottle is about half full (marked in black). This means you have to use 2 of these bags to get the same wicking as 1 bag to work properly and they are twice the price as a result. Each of these packs will absorb no more than 250ml of water per 50ml. I've used 3 of these in 2 different closets and they're all equally disappointing so that doesn't mean one of them was faulty, they all sucked. Too bad.
