Review on πŸŽ™οΈ Elgato Wave 3 – USB Condenser Microphone and Digital Mixer for Streaming, Recording, Podcasting - Clipguard, Capacitive Mute, Plug & Play - PC/Mac Compatible by Kyle Fritz

Revainrating 5 out of 5

It works very well for an entry-level mic for non-audiophiles. Elgato makes it easy!

First of all, in the era of COVID, it will not be easy to get. The first batch of this microphone sold out in about 3 hours. So let's get to the rating! I chose it as my first entry-level streaming/podcasting mic. Most audiophiles will say this isn't the best mic, and that's fine. It makes all of these things a little easier. You don't necessarily need a goXLR or any other mixer to use it. Elgato Wave Link software is a virtual mixer that really helps put everything together. He has the ability to record anything you want him to record. Please see where I have this mic now as opposed to the keyboard and mouse. With the right settings, my Discord chat buddies or streaming won't be able to hear me when I'm typing or mouse clicking, which is what I was really aiming for. You can hear it through headphones and it can be loud, but their software allows you to customize what YOU hear and what he hears. I also ran some vibration tests, and the included mic stand doesn't always take a beating on my desk. I'd have to hit it with some force for people to hear me pounding on the table. Again, I stress that it all depends on your input/output/mic/speaker levels. So far I am very happy with this mic but plan to put it on a raised hand once these parts are delivered. I'm still surprised it doesn't pick up my keyboard (Cherry MX switches) even at this distance. I tested the blue Yeti, but it tends to pick up everything in the room, just like a Logitech webcam's microphone. So I'm giving it 5 stars for now. If I find any good or bad items to update, I'll do so later.
