Excellent for cleaning and leveling whetstones. If you use sharpening stones for a while, they will become "loaded" with metal shavings and essentially lose their ability to keep sharpening. This stone is just what you need to scrape the metal off the stone and continue sharpening. Only criticism is that it's a bit small. If it were another half inch larger in two dimensions, it would be easier to handle and use.
