My wife suffered from residual pain from unplanned stair climbing for many years. This encouragement helped her break the cycle of good days followed by bad days, which brought her back to square one. It became easier to do the same exercises as before, giving her more relief and progress in the right direction. Mistakes can still happen, but she's starting to feel more confident and empowered, so life is better! Update for review. After about 2 months of use, the usefulness of this product has diminished due to the Velcro strap used for secure placement and adjustment. The belt stretched, got much narrower and the velcro didn't close well. The shape change caused the narrow strap to pinch as the body moved and created little surface area for attaching the Velcro. I recently ordered another hip belt that advertises velcro belt seams/inserts to avoid these issues. Hope this helps, I'll write a review on it when the facts are in. Because of these issues, I changed the rating of this hip belt from 5 to 3. I hope this helps other buyers make a useful choice.
