I've had a Kindle Paperwhite for many years and while it wasn't perfect it was cheap, small, light, lasted a long time and was very easy to use. read independently of the lighting. I was forced to find an alternative as I couldn't access reading material from other subscription services with the device. So I started looking for other eInk readers. I really liked eink's new color tablets and after a bit of research I decided the Nova 3 was the best option. Unfortunately I am very disappointed. The tablet came complete with a protective film and a stylus. The protective film must have been old because when I tried to remove the top cover it wouldn't budge and the tab came loose. After trying several ways to remove the top layer, I ended up with a cracked screen protector and had to throw it away. The tablet is very slow even on the fastest settings and is not easy to set up. Just trying to figure out how to download and install the Google Play Store was unbearable. You need to go through a few steps and then wait 6 hours for the tablet and Google to contact and install and launch the App Store. When clicking on pre-installed applications that need to be updated via Play Store, the tablet crashes. There's no quick guide, so you'll have to try to figure everything out yourself. The instruction manual is poorly organized and written. There are multiple controls, but there's no easy way to figure out each icon's function. Some symbols are easy for you to interpret, others not at all. When I was in a place I didn't want to be, it was difficult to figure out how to pull away to go the other way. Cover options are limited and the ones available are unattractive. To be honest, given the cost, the tablet should have come with a case. Maybe I'll learn to love this thing over time, but my honeymoon is over.
