Hard drives are not recognized when inserted

Item arrived on time. I attached a 2.5" drive and couldn't find it on the computer I was attached to. I tried it with a 3.5" drive. It turned on (buzzed) and the drive light came on, but the drive was still not recognized. The lessons are minimal at best. I'll try again and then will I probably return.
