Review on ZERO AUDIO Carbo Basso ZH-DX210-CB - In-Ear Stereo Headphone by Terry Looks

Build quality is good, sound quality is good too

This IEM surprised me. The build quality is good, and the sound quality is good too. I read a lot on headfi.org before buying, which made me prefer it to its sister model (Carbo Tenore). Most reviews said the Tenore had the worst build quality but the best sound, more tuned towards the mids. The frequency response of the tenore was similar to the basso on paper, but the basso was slightly lower. I was expecting booming bass with no definition that would overwhelm other frequencies (like uh beats) but was pleasantly surprised. The high/mid frequencies were clean and smooth. While I don't consider myself a bassist, I appreciate a tight sounding bass with good overtones at low frequencies. Many headphones don't usually reproduce them very well. I was looking for a durable and inexpensive IEM that could be used at the gym, on a bike, etc. but with an audiophile sound. It was definitely a good buy. They excel in sound quality for their weight class and can compete with IEMs in the $300+ range. There is a small mic cable when moving actively, but this is released with a small clamp. IMHO the sound quality is better than the TTPOD T1E and I think it sounds funnier than the Ety ER4S. - A mid-range headphone amp (like Fiio E6, Topping NX1, Bravo Audio, etc.) improves the sound by boosting the bass even more, smoothing out the mids and slightly expanding the soundstage. Definitely a great buy.
