Armrests are not very strong. They are bolted with 1 screw on top and 1 screw on the bottom and have a hinge for when you recline or sit upright. If you put even a little pressure on the arms, they bulge outward and it seems to me they're about to break. The box was destroyed and I would really like to send it back and get another chair. I don't like the design of the armrests on this chair at all, but it's a really cute chair! The seat is very hard and a little uncomfortable when sitting for long periods, which is what I do.
